Abstract

PURPOSE: To read in the signal with good S/N, by changing the oscillation mode of reproduced beam from signal oscillation mode to multiple oscillation mode.
CONSTITUTION: The emitted laser beam from the active region at the end of a laser light source 1 is incident to a collimator lens 2 to be parallel beam, and it is incident to an objective lens 3 to be collective beam and forms a focus on a magnet-optic recording medium 4. The reflection beam from the recording medium 4 returns to the active region of end of the source 1 inversely via the objective lens 3 and collimator lens 2 to form image, and the intensity of the oscillation beam is modulated according to the amount of reflection beam, and the intensity of reproduced beam toward the backward from the laser light source (the same as the intensity toward forward) is detected with a photodetector 5 and output at an output terminal 6. The angle θ with the polarized axis of the laser beam is selected, and the oscillation mode is changed according to the magnetizing state.
