Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable image formation to be carried out even when a converter etc. come to fail in further normal operation owing to a certain reason by providing means of setting conditions of forming electrostatic latent image or developing conditions at predetermined values irrespective of the output of a D/A converting means. CONSTITUTION:After a developing bias control value is integrated, it is applied to the first terminal of a changeover switch SW4. Changeover switches SW2, SW3, SW4 are provided in order to change over potential controlling with a CPU2 and circuits for keeping the developing bias at a predetermined value by flowing reference current to a charger without going through the CPU2. This changing-over makes it possible to flow the reference current to the charger and keep the developing bias at the predetermined value even in such a situation when the CPU2 is disabled on account of a certain accident. Hence, even if the circuits before the D/A converter go out of order, the image formation may be executed and the excessive degradation of the image quality may be prevented. Here, the CPU1 denotes a microcomputer for sequence controlling.
