Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the loss time in copying preparation process and provide conveniences to an operator by detecting the state of opening-closing means of holding an original on a platen surface and controlling the sequence of the copying machine by the detection signal thereof. CONSTITUTION:A microswitch 5 detecting the opening-closing state of a pressure plate 2 which holds an original 200 on a platen 54, and a lamp 6 and photodetector 7 which detect the original 200 are provided to said pressure plate 2, and a microcomputer CPU is added in the control circuits. The pressure plate 2 is raised, by which the OFF of the switch 5 is judged and the pretreatment process such as drum rotation and cleaning is started. When this is completed, the machine is put in a copying stand-by state. When the pressure plate 2 is lowered after this, the ON of the switch 5 and the presence of the original 200 by the photodetector 7 are detected and an advance signal FAD is outputted, by which the original scanning is started. This makes it possible to decrease the loss time of copying preparation and improve efficiency.
