Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a simple method capable of protecting the normal surface against collapse, by connecting a rockfall preventive net to ropes fixed to fixed members and suspended downward, and fixing the ropes onto the normal surface by means of earth anchors.
CONSTITUTION: Rockfall preventive net 4 covering the normal surface 1 is connected to ropes 3 which are fixed at their upper ends to fixed members 2 constructed at the upper end portion of normal surface 1 by pouring concrete or the like and depended thereform downward along the normal surface 1. These ropes 3 are fixed onto normal surface 1 by means of earth anchors 5. When sand and soil located upwardly of earth anchors 5 tend to move, a force holding earth anchor 5 onto normal surface 1 is produced by the local resistance of enlarged portion 6, and at the same time, tensile force 9 is acted to ropes 3. In the above arrangement, movement of sand and soil is prevented positively by installing earth anchors 5 and ropes 3 such that resultant force 10 of holding force 8 and tensile force 9 is directed horizontally or upward to the horizontal plane.
