Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a uniform wheel rim free from any fold or the like at low costs by moving right and left upper and lower dies in a manner as to approach to each other, and passing a bar-like rim blank material in the die hole formed when these dies join, thereby forming the same to a annular shape.
CONSTITUTION: With upper dies 11 and lower dies 12 parted from each other, and with the upper die 11 positioned upward, a bar-like rim blank material 16 of a length corresponding to one wheel rim is aligned and placed in the hollow grooves 15b of the lower dies 12. Thence, the upper dies 11 are lowered and are joined to the lower dies 12 and a die hole 15 is formed by the projecting parts 15a and hollow grooves 15b thereof. In this state, the right, left upper dies 11 and lower dies 12 are moved in a manner as to approach respectively to one piece. Then, the blank material 6 is pushed into the arc-shaped die hole 15 and therefore it is bent from its both ends in the state that its outside contour is held restrained. When the upper, lower dies 11, 12 abut on each other, the blank material 6 is perfectly bent to a annular shape. Next, the upper dies 11 while held abutted are moved upward and further the lower dies 12 are separated, then the annular blank material 16 drops into a long hole 17.
