Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the discharge performance as well as preservation performance, by using a starch layer which comprises a starch, a binder made of a special substance, and a neutral salt, in order to increase the starch amount and facilitate the application of the starch layer. CONSTITUTION:A separator 7 is prepared by forming a starch layer on a base body made of a craft paper or the like. The starch layer consists of a starch, a binder whose main component is a water-soluble cross-linked acrylic resin, and ammonium chloride as a neutral salt. The binder is made up of either the water-soluble cross- linked acrylic resin alone, or a mixture of the water-soluble cross-linked acrylic resin with a polyvinylalcohol. The ratio of the former water-soluble acrylic resin to the starch is prefered to be 1-10% by solid weight. The ratio of the ammonium chloride to the binder should be 5-70% by weight. Through the means mentioned above, the water-holding capacity can be increased with a large amount of the starch and a small amount of the binder. Besides, the additioning of a water salt stables the viscosity, the application of the starch layer is facilitated, and the discharge performance as well as the preservation performance can be enhanced.
