Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit a cylinder apparatus to vary its working force against load without any auxiliary cylinder by forming an oil hole inside the change-over rod and providing at the middle of said oil hole a communicating hole opened radially.
CONSTITUTION: An annular valve-sleeve 28 is axially movably provided between the small diameter portion 7a of a change-over rod 7 and the inner surface of a working piston 6, and a spring 29 is provided acting so as to constantly keep said valve sleeve 28 pressed against the step portion 27 of the rod 7. Moreover, a communicating hole 31 which connects the inner oil hole 19 in the small diameter portion 7a and its outer circumference is formed at a position where said hole 31 is shut off when the valve sleeve 28 is pressed against the step portion 27. Thereby, when the piston 6 expands by a predetermined amount, the change-over projection 32 provided on the piston 6 causes the valve sleeve 28 to move leftward, so that the shutting-off of the communication hole 31 is removed and the oil hole 19 is communicated with an annular chamber 8.
