Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a long-lived copy detector with very few erros by a mechanism wherein the detector is provided with a means for allowing the end surface inside a tube connected to a detector rod to emit light, and a light detection means for receiving light from the detector rod in order to detect a direction to which the detector rod is inclined. CONSTITUTION:Light projected downward from a light emission diode 14 is incident on a reflector contained in a chamber 7 through a hole 8 provided in the upper surface of the rod portion 5 of a detector rod 3. The light incident on the reflector 10 is reflected by the reflector 10 and transmitted upwrd through the hole 8 from the end surface of the rod portions 5. The detector rod 3 in an inclinded state is detected by light emission diodes 151, 152, 153, 154 located above the upper surface of the detector rod 3. By detecting whether the light emission diodes detect the reflected light or not and the amount of light received, a direction to which the detector rod is inclined can be detected. Thus it is possible to obtain a long-lived automatic copy detector with least trouble and very few errors.
