Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently treat a residual catalyst and thereby to produce a stabilized polyolefin, by contacting a crude polyolefin obtained by polymerization using a Ziegler type catalyst with both an aldehyde and an epoxide.
CONSTITUTION: A crude polyolefin powder obtained by polymerizing an α-olefin by use of a catalyst containing a transition metal halide and an organoaluminum compound (Ziegler type catalyst) is contacted with each about 1W5,000 times mol catalyst, of an aldehyde, e.g., formaldehyde, and an epoxide, e.g., ethylene oxide, at a temperature higher than the m.p. of the polyolefin (preferably, about 160W 250°C).
