Abstract
PURPOSE: The fermented broth is separated into liquid and solid and the liquid fraction is esterified by adding an alcohol to simplify the process for collecting a long-chain dicarboxylic ester, the objective substance, from the fermented broth and increase the purity of the product.
CONSTITUTION: The fermented broth resulting from the fermentation of long- chain normal paraffin of 10W18 carbon atoms with bacterium cells is separated into solid and liquid, then the solid fraction is melted by heating or dissolved in or mixed with an alcohol of 1W4 carbon atoms and introduced into the esterifier. In the esterifier, esterification as well as distillation are effected to collect the long-chain dicarboxylic acids as esters.
