Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a chelate resin, having a high adsorbing rate, effective for treating a large amount of a liquid, and useful for the purification of industrial water and treatment of waste water, by reactinga specific halogen-containing resin with an amino compound, and then reacting the reaction product with an alkylphosphorylating agent. CONSTITUTION:A halogen-containing resin, having a pore volume >=0.2 cc/g based on a pore diameter >=500Angstrom , preferably 800-50,000Angstrom , and a specific surface area>=0.5 m<2>/g, e.g. polyvinyl chloride resin, is reacted with an amino compound containing a primary or secondary amino group, e.g. monomethylamine, in an amount >=1/20 mole based on one g halogen atom in the resin under heating. The resultant reaction product is then reacted with an alkylphosphorylating agent, e.g. chloromethylphosphoric acid, in an amount >=1/10 mole, preferably 1-5 moles, based on one equivalent amino group in the aminated resin in the presence of a basic catalyst.
