USE: Synthetic intermediate of pharmaceuticals. It is useful for example, as a synthetic intermediate of 6-alkoxycarbonyl-5,7-dialkyl-3-phenyl-2(1H)-quinoxalinone derivative useful as a remedy for hypertension, ischemic cardiopathy, and ischemic cerebral vascular lesion.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIcan be prepared by the decarbonation of the compound of formula II. The reaction is carried out in a solvent such as toluene, pref. in the presence of a catalyst such as copper powder, by heating at 100W200°C.
