Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent growth of shape resistance without reducing strength of hull by forming a propeller inspecting port in a plane directed to the stern above a portion of a keel through which a propeller shaft extends.
CONSTITUTION: A keel 3 projects downward from the bottom plate 2, converges gradually toward the stern side and is formed on the end with a plane 30 directed toward the stern. A propeller shaft 9 extends through this plane 30 which is provided at the upper side with an inspection port 8. Since thus the inspection port 8 is located sufficiently close to the center of the propeller, few problems of shape resistance are encountered and the strength of the hull is not reduced even if irregularities are produced on the outside of the inspection port.
