Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a scale preventing agent having superior preventive effect by copolymerizing two kinds of different compounds having specific repetitive structural units specific molar ratios.
CONSTITUTION: The compounds consisting of the structural unit A expressed by the formulaIand the repetitive structural unit B expressed by the formula II are dissolved in a solvent such as, for example, methyl alcohol, to have 60:40W 40:60 molar ratios of the total amt. of the A and the total amt. of the B, and are polymerized by using an initiator such as, for example, ammonium persulfate, whereby a copolymer is obtd. The compound of the formulaIis, for example, polyethylene glycol monoallyl ether, and the compound of the formula II is, for example, a maleic acid type monomer. The temp. of polymn. is about 0W120°C. This copolymer is used at about 1W100ppm with respect to circulation water. Here, the (n) of the formulasI, II denotes 1W100 integers, R1, R2 are hydrogen or methyl groups, and X, Y are hydrogen, univalent metals, bivalent metals, ammonium groups or org. amine groups.
