Abstract

PURPOSE: To economically obtain the titled stable and homogeneous composition by incorporating a foaming agent, 2,2-bis(4-allyloxy-3,5-dibromophenyl)-propane and a phosphate ester or a halogenated paraffin in a styrene resin bead.
CONSTITUTION: In a styrene resin bead, a foaming agent (A) in an amt. required for expansion, 2,2-bis(4-allyloxy-3,5-dibromophenyl)propane (B) in an amt. required for flame retardancy, usually 0.05W5pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. said bead and 0.05W2pts.wt., based on 100pts.wt. said bead, phosphate ester or halogenated paraffin liquid at normal temp, are incorporated, for example, by feeding the styrene resin bead, components B ane C in an aqueous dispersion into an autoclave and then injecting the foaming agent (A), followed by inpregnation at 100°C.
