Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable sludge coal to be quickly dryed and to burn favorably by providing a screw type feeder suitable for feeding the sludge coal to a fluidized bed boiler, the feeder being attached at a prescribed angle to a ceiling plate of a furnace.
CONSTITUTION: In the case wherein a certain quantity of sludge coal is fed to the fluidized bed boiler 11 that employs the sludge as fuel, the screw type quantitative feeder 10 that serves as an apparatus for feeding the sludge quantitatively is arranged on the ceiling surface 19 such that the axis 17 of the screw shaft 10b makes an angle α ranging from about 60°W90° with the boiler ceiling surface 19. Accordingly, when the sludge coal 8 fed in a hopper 10'a of the feeder 10 is conveyed by the rotation of the screw, and drops through cutting blades 13 into the boiler 10, the short rodlike sludge coals 16' can be prevented from coming in contact with each other. Thus, quick drying and favorable burning of the sludge coals 16' become possible.
