Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce an offensive scorching odor produced during printing by a method wherein material producing comfortable fragrance is contained in one or more of a medium to be recorded, a recording medium and a member supporting the recording medium which constitute a discharge recorder. CONSTITUTION:Current is allowed to flow via recording paper 40 between a recording needle 46 of which a contact area changes depending on a signal and a return circuit electrode 45 by a printing pulse generating circuit 48 and a driving circuit 47. As a result, an electromagnetic field and current density under the recording needle 46 become larger, causing a discharge. A conductive layer and a coloring layer are damaged and burnt so that an offensive scorching odor is produced. By preparing a recording medium 42, for instance, with essence 43 being blended having low steam pressure at the normal pressure and containable in a microcapsule, such as synthetic essence of turpen series and aromatic synthetic essence, fragrance can be produced when the microcapsule containing the essence is broken at the time of discharging.
