Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a synthetic resin foam plate having a heat insulating property, a light transmissivity, and mechanical characteristics, as well as a specifically expanded featre in which closed cells are so distributed in a specific condition and the closed cellular membrances are so exposed to the open air that water absorbability and density are characterized. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic resin foam plate in which the membrances of closed ceels are exposed to the surface has a surface condition showing a water absorbability of 2wt% or less(by ASTM C272) and a density of 100-500. Also, in the synthetic resin foam plate, 2-10 cells of dimensions and a shape which meet the average diameter value(H or P) of cells of 7mm. or more, measured in the crosswise or the veritcal direction of the foam plate, and also meet the relationships 3>=P/H>=1/3 and (P+H/2V)>=2(V is the average diameter value (mm.) of cells, measured in the thickwise direction of the foam plate), are arranged in the thickwise direction of the synthetic resin foam plate. Also, in the planar direction of the plate, the cells almost uniformly distributed under a condition that overall light tranmissvity of 40% or more, measured by ASTM-D1003, and a light diffusion transmissvity exceeds a light parallel transmissivity.
