Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a smaller insulation distance and miniaturization of the whole construction in an electromagnetic induction machine by a method wherein a condensible cooling medium is heated prior to start of operation of the machine to increase a gas pressure as high as it can be resistive against a possible overvoltage incoming from a system line. CONSTITUTION:In the method by which an electric machine is enveloped with a condensible cooling medium to cool the machine by latent heat of the cooling medium, dielectric strength E0 and vaporizing pressure P0 at the temperature T0 of the machine (for example, transformer) cannot be resistive against an overvoltage in a system line. So, after increasing the temp. and vaporizing pressure to T1 and P1, respectively, to obtain the dielectric strength E1 which is resistible against this, the machine (transformer) is connected to a system line. Then, safe operation can be achieved. With this procedure, the insulating distance can be reduced to minimize the electric machine.
