Abstract
PURPOSE: To decrease weight of a tappet, reduce a noise level in a valve moving device and suppress blow-bye of a mixture, by eliminating a pressure chamber forming member of check valve or the like in a pressure oil chamber of the tappet.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder member 8 of an oil hydraulic tappet 6 is engaged in a slidably fitted state to a tappet mounting part 4 formed in a cylinder block 2. The bottom of the cylinder member 8 is formed to tubular shape and adapted to a cam 12 provided in a cam shaft 10. The cylinder member 8 is provided with a stepped part 14 in a tube, and a sliding surface 18 slidably engaged to a piston member 16 is provided above the stepped part 14. The piston member 16 forms a pressure oil chamber 20 in cooperation with the cylinder member 8. To the upper side of the piston member 16, one end of a push rod 24 is adapted in such a manner as to close an air vent hole 17. The other end of the push rod 24 is connected to an exhaust valve 30 provided in an engine combustion chamber 28 through a rocker arm 26. The pressure oil chamber 20 is communicated through an oil passage 34 to an oil supply line 36 formed in the cylinder block 2.
