Abstract

PURPOSE: A polyphenylene sulfide composition with improved high-temp. characteristics and adhesion to hot water, obtd. by the incorporation of sulfur and a zirconium compd. in a powdered polyphenylene sulfide resin.
CONSTITUTION: Sulfur and a zirconium compd. are incorporated in a powdered polyphenylene sulfide resin. The zirconium compd. to be used is a chloride, sulfide, silicate and oxide, among which the silicate and oxide are preferred. For example, zirconium silicate is suitably used as the silicate and zirconium oxide as the oxide. The sulfur and the zirconium compd. are used in a wt. ratio of 1:1W3. It is preferable to use 5W15 pts.wt. mixt of the sulfur and the zirconium compd. for 100pts.wt. polyphenylene sulfide resin.
