Abstract
PURPOSE: To permit the inner ring of a bearing to be ground with high accuracy by improving the grinding order.
CONSTITUTION: The larger diameter side end surface of the inner ring 20 of the bearing provided with a groove ground on its rolling surface is adsorbed onto a packing plate while aiming at the dimension based upon the larger diameter side end surface of the inner ring 20 of a tapered roller bearing. The first measuring device 30 and the second measuring device 31 are brought into contact with the smaller diameter end surface 20a of the inner ring 20, and the rolling surface groove, respectively and then the width of the inner ring 20 and the diameter of the rolling surface groove are measured. The deviation between the diameter of the rolling surface groove thus measured and the standard diameter of the rolling surface groove is sought for and this value is converted into the deviation value in the axial direction of the inner ring before it is fed back to the second measuring device 31. Then, the collar 21 and the smaller diameter side end surface 20a of the inner ring 20 are ground simultaneously by means of a collar grinding wheel 22 and an end- surface grinding wheel 24 integrated in a fixed diameter, until the value measured by the already calibrated second measuring device 31 shows a prescribed inner ring width.
