Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of a plated steel plate considerably by treating the surface of the plated steel plate with treating liquid contg. a prescribed ratio of Cr2O3 and a prescribed ratio of cation type silica sol corresponding to SiO2. CONSTITUTION:Treating liquid is prepd. by adding cation type silica sol and water to a Cr2O3 soln. in such a way that Cr2O3 is contained at 10-50g in one liter of the treating liquid to be obtained in the final and cation type silica sol at 10-100g as SiO2. On the other hand, a steel plate applied with hot dipping or electroplating of Zn, Al, etc. is degreased, if necessary, and is then rinsed to clean the surface. The steel plate after the cleaning treatment is dipped in said treating liquid fo about 5-10 seconds at 50-70 deg.C. Next, the excess treating liquid stuck on the dipped steel plate is removed with rubber rollers or the like and the steel plate is dried without rinsing, whereby the intended steeel plate having the chromated surface is obtained.
