Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve producibility and material yield by finding the rollgap applied correction amount by the spring back of a fin pass stand from an estimated formation load, and then initially setting a roll gap. CONSTITUTION:When the size of a welded pipe or the strength of its material is varied with regard to fin pass rolls for an electric welded steel pipe which forms and finishes a beltlike plate into a blank pipe, the formation load PFi of each fin pass stand is estimated by using a formation load estimating model selected while the amount of reduction of area of the blank pipe and its downhill amount are considered. From this estimated formation load PFi, an roll-gap applied correction amount PFi/M(M; mill rigidity) by the spring back of the fin pass stand is found and the roll gap initially set value Gi* of each fin pass stand is determined by an equation shwon herafter. Namely, Gi*=Gi- PFi/M (Gi; desired roll gap value). Consequently, the roll gap is set initially in a short time without measuring peripheral length.
