Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition that is made by adding a combination of a specific sulfur compound and a phenolic antioxidant, thus showing remarkably improved stability to heat and oxidation and preventing bleeding, whitening and odor development.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A sulfur compound of the formula (R1 is 3W18C alkyl, R2 and R3 are H, 1W6C alkyl) and (B) a phenolic antioxidant are added to a polyolefin resin. In component A, R1 is preferably 12W18C alkyl and R2, R3 are 1W3C alkyl. The ratio of A to B is (1W10)/1, preferably (2W6)/1 by weight. The total weight of both components is preferably 0.01W0.5pts.wt. per 100pts. of the resin. The compound of formulaIis obtained by acetalization of an aldehyde of formula II with pentaerythritol.
