Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a selective permeable membrane for separating gases, which has a high permeability for oxygen from aromatic polyesters and also a higher permeability ratio for oxygen than that for nitrogen. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyamide, having 70mol% or more a repeating unit of the formula I (where R1 is a C1-30 alkyl group, two carbonyl groups combining with the nucleus carbon of ring A are each at para- or meta-position, R2 and R3 combining with the nucleus carbon of rings B and C are similarly or differently a halogen atom or a C1-4 hydrocarbon group, p and q are integers each 0-4, nucleus carbon not combining with R2 and R3 is joined with H; Y is O, S, SO2 CO, or a C1-8 alkylene group, and m is 0 or 1), containing an alkyloxy-substituted benzenedicarboxylic acid residue as a dicarboxylic acid component and a bisphenol residue and/or biphenyl residue group as a glycol component, is dissolved in a solvent, e.g., chloroform, etc., and then cast onto the surface of a glass plate to obtain a film.
