Abstract

PURPOSE: To correctly maintain the temp. distribution of the butted faces during welding by controlling the high frequency electric power for welding the butted faces and draw-out speed respectively by the output of optical thermometers, in producing an electric welded tube.
CONSTITUTION: The output of the 1st optical thermometer 1 is added with reference voltage -S1 in an adder 3, after which it controls the output of a high frequency power source 9 via a PID (proportionl plus integral plus derivative action) control circuit 4. It is so controlled that the edge part 14 of a butted part 12 attains a welding temp. T. On the other hand, the output of the 2nd optical thermometer 2 is added with reference voltage -S2 in an adder 5, after which the speed of a variable speed motor 7 is controlled via a PID control circuit 6. It is so controlled that the temp. of the point 16 at a constant distance (d) from the edge part 14 is a temp. close to the welding temp. T. In this way, the temp. of the point 16 is maintained correctly.
