Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to discriminance the positive and the negative of temperature, by a method wherein a frequency difference signal S1 is obtined by mixing the frequency of the signal sent from an oscillator with the output frequency of a local oscillator at a reference temperature, together with a frequency difference signal S2 which is obtained by mixing said received signal with the output of the local oscillator whose phase has been shifted by 90 deg., and the phases of both frequency difference signals S1 and S2 are detected. CONSTITUTION:The oscillation frequency of an oscillator 20 employing an elastic surface wave resonator 19 is supplied to a mixer 26 through antennas 22 and 23 and mixed with the oscillation output from a local oscillator 25. As a result, a differential frequency between the received signal frequency and the local oscillation output frequency is obtained as an output. This is mixed with the oscillation output from a reference local oscillator 28 in a mixer 29 to obtain a frequency difference signal S1. Moreover, after the phase of the output of the reference local oscillator 28 has been shifted by 90 deg., said output is applied to a mixer 30 and mixed with the received signal to obtain a frequency difference signal S2. The phase difference between these frequency difference signals S1 and S2 is phase-discriminated in a phase comparator 34. According to the output therefrom, positive or negative is displayed on a positive/negative display device 35.
