Abstract

PURPOSE: To extend a life of cut-off rubber which is projected outwardly through a feeding-in of pressurized fluid, by a method wherein some reinforcing members are installed near an outer surface of the cut-off rubber.
CONSTITUTION: In a cut-off rubber 10 having projections projected outwardly or immersed inwardly under a feeding or a discharging of pressurized fluid, a reinforcing member 9 of cloth etc. is installed in it at its entire circumference near outer surface of the cut-off rubber 10. Expandable/retractable tube 12 is installed in a hollow part in a projection of the cut-off rubber 10, and a water feeding pipe 13 is connected to the tube 12. Under a full-closed condition of the gate 3, the projection of the cut-off rubber 10 is press contacted to the inner surface of the gate 3 so as to provide a complete cut-off. In a semi-opened condition of the gate 3 shown in the drawing, the cut-off rubber 10 is reinforced by the reinforcing member 9, so that the projection is not projected too much. Therefore, no excessive strain is produced at both bent sections in the projected part of the cut-off rubber 10 so as to extend a life of the cut-off rubber 10.
