Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the formation of the oxide film formation of a steel stripe and to eliminate the need for pickling by using the water contg. virtually no dissolved O2 for cooling of the steel strip. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip S is heated to about 700-850 deg.C in a heating zone 110 of a continuous annealing device and after the temp. in the strip is made uniform in a soaking zone 111, the strip is cooled to about 700 deg.C in a primary cooling zone 112; further in a gas-water cooling zone 113, it is cooled down to about 400 deg.C, and in an overaging zone 114, it is held at about 400 deg.C for a constant time, then in a secondary cooling zone 115, it is cooled down to a room temp. In said zone 113, an inert gas is blown through gaz nozzles 16, and the degassed water of which the concn. of dissolved O2 is controlled to <=0.01ppm in a deaerating vessel 1 and is indirectly cooled with the cooling water supplied from a cooling tower 11 so as not to contact with the atmospheric air in a heat exchanger 12 is sprayed through water nozzles 17 from both sides of the strip S, whereby the strip is cooled. The deaerating water used for cooling is circulated through a tank 15 and the exchanger 12 by means of a pump 14.
