Abstract

PURPOSE:To exactly detect the end of an ink ribbon in an automatic type writer by a simplified system in which a detector by which the stopping state of a ribbon reel is detected when the ink ribbon disappears is provided. CONSTITUTION:When an ink ribbon 2 is driven in the direction of arrow 4 by a ribbon driver, an actuator lever 5 is turned through a guide roller 3 in the direction of arrow 7. In this case, when the remaining amount of the ink ribbon 2 is almost zero (0), a ribbon reel 17 can not turn and the ink ribbon 2 is strongly tensed between the guide roller 3 and the spool 19. As a result, the actuator lever 5 turns in the direction of arrow 7 beyond its usual moving range until an interference occurs between a spring shaft 1 fixed to the lever 5 and the long hole 23 of the plate 11. Whereupon, a contactor 10 actuates a micro switch 12 beyond a clearance with the micro switch 12, whereby informing a worker of the ending of the ink ribbon.
