Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the color developing rate and color developing maximum rate, to improve the formalin resistance and to prevent the insufficient color development due to aging by using a coupler forming a magenta dye image represented by a specified general fomula. CONSTITUTION:A photographic sensitive material is manufactured by adding a coupler represented by formulaI(where R1 is alkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic group, R2 is amino, carbonamido, ureido or alkoxy, R3 is aryl or a heterocyclic group, R4 is alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, a heterocyclic group or a group of formula II, and R5 is H, halogen, alkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic group) to a photosensitive layer on a support. Said coupler is excellent in photographic characteristics such as sensitivity, maximum density, fog and yellow stain and has improved shelf stability, so it can be effectively used especially in silver saving color photography.
