Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an α,β-unsaturated fatty acid having lipometabolism improving activity, either by extracting corbicula with hot water, concentrating the extract, and extracting the concentrate with an aprotic solvent optionally after addition of separated corbicula meat to the concentrate, or by extracting corbicula with an aprotic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: The whole body or the meat of corbicula is optionally chopped to thin strips, and extracted with hot water under about neutral conditions. The extract is concentrated and the concentrate and/or the separated meat are extracted with an aprotic solvent, or the whole body or the meat of corbicula is optionally chopped to thin strips and extracted with an aprotic solvent. The solvent is removed from the extract obtained above, and purified preferably by column chromatography, etc. to separate the α,β-unsaturated fatty acid of formula (n is 10, 12 or 14). The objective metabolizing composition is prepared by using the fatty acid or its mixture as an active component.
