Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance degassing efficiency of molten steel, in degassing and refining molten steel in an RH degassing apparatus, by blowing an inert gas into a molten steel container from the bottom part thereof to increase recirculating and stirring actions of molten steel. CONSTITUTION:The raising pipe 1 and the falling pipe 2 of a degassing tank 3 are immersed in the molten steel m in a container 4 as well as an inert gas such as Ar or the like is blown into the container from a gas blow-in apparatus 10 provided to the bottom part of the container directly under the raising pipe 1. Gas bubbles of Ar gas are raised through the raising pipe 1 to subject the molten steel to degassing and refining treatment such as dehydrogenation or denitrification in the vacuum part of the degassing tank 3. Because the molten steel is sufficiently stirred from the gas stream from the gas blow-in apparatus provided the bottom part of the container 4 as well as the molten steel issued from the falling pipe 2 forms a short-circuit stream to be prevented from being introduced into the raising pipe 1, the all molten steel is degassed and refined in excellent efficiency.
