Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the wrong operation of a windshield wiper which is driven depending on the quantity of rain detected by light, by compensating a reference value for the driving of the wiper when a wrong light reception signal is generated. CONSTITUTION:A light emitter 6 is connected to a battery 4 through an ignition switch 2. A light receiver 8, which is tightly fitted on the inside surface of a windshield 26, is connected to a multiplexer 10, which is not only coupled to a central processing unit 20 through appliances 12, 14, 16, 18 such as an amplifier but also directly coupled to the central processing unit. The central processing unit 20 is connected to a transistor Tr1 for controlling a wiper relay Ry1 for a wiper motor 22 and is connected to a transistor Tr2 for controlling a relay Ry2 for a washer motor 24. The central processing unit 20 controls the drive of the motors 22, 24. When the light emitter 6 or the like is contaminated or a light reception signal is generated due to some error, the central processing unit 20 compensates reference values for controllinng the drive of the motors 22, 24.
