Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a control valve for a simpler construction by adopting a reversible oil pump. CONSTITUTION:A clockwise rotation of a steering wheel 3 is detected by a steering sensor 12, which generates a positive steering signal to an IC servo amplifier 13 to drive a reversible oil pump 4 to supply pressure oil into an oil chamber 2b of a power cylinder 2. A pressure difference occurs in the vicinity of the outlet ports 4a, 4b of the reversible oil pump 4 by the effect of orifices 6a, 7a, causing a pressure difference between valve cases 8h, 8i of a bypass valve 8 via pilot passages 10, 11, so that a valve body 8d is displaced against a resilient force of a spring 8f to shut off connection of a bypass passage 9 at a large diameter part 8c. The supply of the pressure oil for the power cylinder 2 forces a piston 2a to the right, thereby reinforcing steering power.
