Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform combustion operation efficiently by a method wherein a granular fuel is burned in a swirling condition within a plurality of horizontal cylindrical combustion chambers communicating with one another through a communication port and the resultant combustion gas is introduced into a vertical combustion chamber where it is burned in a swirling condition and the swirling combustion gas is taken out from the central part thereof. CONSTITUTION:The granular fuel in a hopper 24 is supplied into a first cylindrical chamber 1 through a fuel supply pipe 14 by means of a screw 27 while primary air is supplied into the combustion chamber 1 through a supply pipe 15 and the fuel is burned in the chamber 1 in a swirling condition. Next, the resultant combustion gas enters a second cylindrical chamber 2 where it is burned continuously in a swirling condition. The combustion gas then enters the vertical combustion chamber 4 through a communication hole 12 where it continues to be burned in a vertically swirling condition and the final combustion gas which is at high temperature and high pressure is taken out from an outlet port 35 at the upper end of a combustion gas takeout pipe 35. As stated above, the combustion of the fuel and the resultant combustion gas is performed in a swirling condition so that the generation of NOx and SOx can be reduced.
