Abstract

PURPOSE:To precisely cut periodically produced arc noise by cutting the input to a defect detecting mechanism for a constant short time from the point of the time when the secondary voltage of a welding machine has attained a set value. CONSTITUTION:A discriminator 10 receives the secondary voltage of a welding machine and when it exceeds a reference value, the discriminator operates a gate generating circuit 11. The circuit 11 generates a gate inhibiting taking-in of data for a constant short time. Delay circuits 12a-12d delay the generation of the gate by the propagation time of high frequency sound. A signal processor 13 measures the peak-to-peak values, energy, etc. of the acoustic emission wave amplified and selected by main amplifiers 7a-7d and comparators 8a-8d, measures arrival time differences as well and converts these from analog to digital. The processed signals are inputted via an interface 14 to a central processing unit 15, where they are processed by the programs having beforehand been inputted, and the position localization of defective parts, energy analysis, pulse height analysis, counting of generation frequencies, etc. are accomplished, results whereof are displayed via the interface 14.
