Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an air flow meter of which the heat-sensitive resistor is hard to be contaminated by providing a covering member having an air introduction hole provided at right angles to an axial direction in the inlet of a by-pass passage having the heat-sensitive resistor in the passage. CONSTITUTION:The air entering from an air cleaner 1 is supplied to an engine through a Venturi part 2 or a by-pass passage 3 then through a throttle valve 4. The flow of the air past the passage 3 is measured with a heat-sensitive resistor 5, whereby the volume of the air to be supplied to the engine is determined. A covering member 8 having an air introduction hole 10 provided at right angles to the axial direction is formed on the upper stream of the passage 3. Since the contaminating particles contained in the air are made difficult to pass through the hole 10 on account of inertia, the resistor 5 is hard to be contaminated.
