Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically clamp and set a floppy disk only by inserting it into a device, and to reduce the power consumption, by providing a sensor, a cone loading solenoid, and a chopper control circuit for the cone loading solenoid. CONSTITUTION:A disk rotating mechanism which includes a sensor 52 for detecting the jacket front edge of a floppy disk, a sensor 64 for detecting the motion of an ejecting mechanism, a free contacting and separating driving hub for rotating a magnetic disk, and a cone 30 is provided and when the floppy disk is inserted into an insertion opening normally, the cone 30 is moved toward the driving hub to automatically clamp and set the disk by the suctional force of a cone loading solenoid 41. During this setting actuation, a large current flows through the solenoid or is brought under the chopper control of a chopper control circuit after the clamping and setting operation, so the power consumption is reduced to prevent heat generation.
