Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the work efficiency of an X-ray tube, which is prepared from a rotary anode having a graphite base, by providing a metallic covering layer used for the X-ray radiation on both surfaces of a circular graphite base body. CONSTITUTION:Both surfaces of a circular graphite base body 11 are provided with a metallic covering layer 12 which is used for the X-ray radiation, made of tungsten or a rhenium-tungsten alloy, and the sectional form of which is a truncated conic section having a diagonal line slanting from the rotational axis at over 90 deg. and a diagonal line slanting from the rotational axis at under 90 deg.. An upper slant surface 16 and a lower slant surface 17 of the layer 12 are apart from the direction perpendicular to the rotational axis in reverse directions by an equal angle. The upper inner diameter (phiA) of the layer 12 and the lower inner diameter (phiB) of the layer 12, which are both perpendicular to the rotational axis, are made different. Since the heat radiating ability of the graphite exposed part is higher than that of the rhenium-tungsten covering layer 12, the lower part of the target can radiate much more heat than the upper part of the target in this case (when phiA<phiB).
