Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize an easy formation of a modulator into an IC, by producing a base signal of in-phase component of a modulated wave and a base signal having a complementary relation with the first base signal and selecting these base signals alternately with a switch signal that is driven by a carrier signal to obtain a balanced modulation output. CONSTITUTION:The phase value is calculated based on an input signal supplied from an input terminal 1, and the phase value is generated through a phase control circuit 2 to be applied to complementary signal generating circuits 12 and 13 to the sine and cosine signals as well as to sine and cosine signal generating circuits 3 and 4. A base signal of in-phase component of a modulated wave is generated from the circuits 3 and 4, and the signal having a complementary relation with the base signal is generated through the circuits 12 and 13 by a digital process. The output signal of each of circuits 3, 4, 12 and 13 is applied to switch circuits 14 and 15 using an MOS analog switch, etc. and these output signals are switched alternately by the output of a frequency stabilizing circuit 5 having a frequency fo. The signals switched through circuits 14 and 15 are synthesized by a synthesizing circuit 9, and a balanced modulation output is produced through an output terminal 10 of a digital orthogonal modulator.
