Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled curing solution for a glass ionomer cement, prepared by adding a specific organic carboxylic acid as an additive to an aqueous solution of acrylic acid-maleic acid copolymer, and having improved strength, curing rate and water resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A dental cement curing agent containing one or more soluble organic carboxylic acids, consisting of only C, H and O, having carboxyl and hydroxyl groups directly linked to the skeletonic carbon atom, expressed by the general formula CmHx(COOH)n(OH)y [m, n, x and y are integers; m is 1W6; n is m/2W6 [n is (m+1)/2W6 when m is an odd number]; x is 0W6; y is 0W1], and having at most one methylene group in the skeleton thereof and no other group and readily polymerizable double bond, e.g. tartronic acid or benzenehexacarboxylic acid, in an amount of 10W25wt% based on the total weight in a 45W55wt% aqueous solution of acrylic acid-maleic acid copolymer. Preferably, a fluoro complex salt may be added thereto.
