Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a stainless steel with superior seawater resistance by preparing a steel contg. a specified percentage of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, No and N and having regulated Cr equiv.
CONSTITUTION: A stainless steel consisting of, by wt., ≤0.08% C, 1.10W1.90% Si, 5.6W10.0% Mn, 8.6W17.0% Ni, 20.5W30.0% Cr, 0.2W4.0% Mo, 0.25W0.50% N and the balance Fe with impurity elements and having ≥31 Cr equiv. represented by Cr+2.5Mo+0.4Ni+20N is prepared. To the steel may be added 0.2W0.3% Cu and one or more among ≤0.05% Ce, ≤0.02% Ca, ≤0.05% misch metal and ≤0.01% B. Thus, a seawater-resistant high-strength austenite stainless steel with superior resistances to stress corrosion cracking, wear and seizing is obtd.
