Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent prism which is high in a plane accuracy and short in forming cycle time, by using a transparent insert having a specific shape, for forming a pentagonal Dach-prism, and putting a transparent material which is same as the insert, into a metallic mold so as to be formed in one body. CONSTITUTION:When forming a pentagonal Dach-prism 1, a surface 2 to which an external light beam is made incident, reflection surfaces 3, 4 of a light beam from the surface 2, a lower reflection surface 5, unused surfaces 7, 8 and 9 except an optical use surface of a surface 6 for radiating a light beam to the outside, or an insert member 10 having a projection-like holding part 11 on this unused surface are formed by use of transparent plastic. The holding part 11 of the insert 10 is fitted into a recess part 19 of the parting line 18 side of the lower mold 12, and a transparent material which is same as the insert 10 is injected into a cavity 15 of a metallic mold 14, so as to be formed in one body. In this way, it is possible to obtain a prism which shortens a cooling time by making it thin, also is good in an acute angle property of an edge line, high in accuracy and free from optical distortion.
