Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce titled slag suitable as a raw material for various kinds of ceramics by adding and mixing iron oxide or iron-contg. materials to and with blast furnace slag in a molten state, and slowly cooling the same at a rate below specified. CONSTITUTION:Iron oxide or iron-contg. materials and further, if necessary, either one or both of alkali-contg. materials and sulfur-contg. materials are added and mixed to and with blast furnace slag in a molten state. The molten slag added with these is cooled down to 500 deg.C at <=300 deg.C/Hr average cooling rates. Then, the blast furnace slag having self-powdering characteristic, that is, the property that it easily powders by itself when put in contact with water is produced.
