Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive printer which is small is electrical consumption and simple in structure by a method wherein a DC motor is used as the driving source of the small printer and a type wheel is driven and stopped through a spring clutch and solenoids.

CONSTITUTION: When the DC motor 37 is rotated, the rotation is transmitted to a rotating shaft 43 through a group of gears 38 and the like. At this time rachet levers 53, 54 are engaged with the ratches of a rachet wheel, a coil spring 48 comprising a spring clutch becomes only loose, a gear 50 does not rotate and therefore the type wheel 5 does not rotate. Then, when solenoids 57, 58 are electrified alternately, the rachet levers 53, 54 are released by levers 59, 60 from alternate engagement with the ratchets and as a result the gear 50 rotates and the type wheel 5 rotates. The position of the type wheel 5 is detected by the contact relation of electroconductive pattern 69 with contact elements 71W73 and when a desired type comes at a printing position, the solenoid stops driving and printing is made by a hammer mechanism in the type wheel 5.
