Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the preparing of the cold rolled steel plate having excellent surface properties, press formability and strength, by hot rolling a slab of a high Si steel material containing a specific small amount of Cu and P on a specific temperature condition. CONSTITUTION:The slab of steel containing 0.2% or less C, 0.3-3% Si, 0.2-2% Mn and either 0.2-1.2% Cu solely, or the same with 0.03-0.2% P made into a composite material, is scarfed in a high temperature condition to remove a layer rich in Cu on the surface of the slab. This is immediately hot rolled or charged at a warm temperature to be hot rolled to provide beautiful surface properties. Further, the hot rolling is finished at a temperature of Ar3 transformation temperature or higher, the cooling rate before the rolled plate is wound up is set at a rate of 30 deg.C/ sec or more, and the cooled plate is wound up at a temperature of 700 deg.C or lower and then further retained at 500-750 deg.C for 1hr. Thus the high strength cold rolled steel plate having excellent surface properties and press formability is obtained.
