Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent stress corrosion cracking in a rotor including a wheel secured on a shaft by a key, by embedding a material, whose corrosion potential is lower than that of the wheel, in at least one of the shaft, the wheel and the key so that a part of the material is exposed.
CONSTITUTION: A wheel 4 is fitted on a rotor shaft 3. A key 2 is inserted into keyways 1, 1' provided in the shaft 3 and the wheel 4, thereby securing the wheel 4 on the shaft 3. Grooves 6, 6' are previously made in the portions of the key 2 which correspond to the shaft 3 and the wheel 4. An anticorrosive material 7, 7', whose corrosion potential is lower than that of at least the wheel 4, is embedded in the grooves 6, 6'. zince, aluminum, magnesium or the like is used as the anticorrosive material 7, 7' when the wheel 4 is made of Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel. Corrosion is thus prevented on the surface of the keyway 1' of the wheel 4 of a steam turbine rotor.
