Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent indication error of a clock, by providing a function with which when a motor has a malfunction, the error is detected, and a driving pulse for correction is issued separately to correct the error. CONSTITUTION:A timing circuit 12 incorporating in built-in manner a crystal oscillator and a frequency dividing circuit generates a timing signal of 1Hz, and a motor driving circuit 13 outputs, after receiving said timing signal, a motor driving signal that is an alternating pulse outputted every second. A correcting circuit 14 for a motor malfunction detects existence of counter electromotive force generated at the time when a rotor 6 rotates, and identifies a malfunction of the motor. In the case of malfunction, an instruction is issued to the motor driving circuit 13 after a motor driving pulse in the reverse direction is issued after one second, further, a motor driving pulse, firstly in the positive direction, successively in the reverse direction, is issued, thereby allowing error in indication to be removed.
